For the fandom snowflake challenge day #4, I poked at someone new and they answered back with a perfectly amiable PM. =D

For day #5: In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.



I'm sure this person needs no introduction to Sherlock Holmes fandomers, but just in case there are fans of the famous detective out there who do not yet follow this person's work, may I introduce the immensely talented Ghostbees on tumblr?

What can I say about Ghostbees? I think one look at the artwork on their tumblr and you will readily understand why I think they are amazing. The artist's Holmes and Watson are uniquely their own, not quite Granada, not BBC Sherlock, but a mixture of things, as the artist explains.

I also think the artist has a good head on their shoulders, and can respect their opinions about the various Sherlock Holmes adaptations (they really get why Elementary is great to me), and this makes me like them even more.

I really hesitate to link specific works here because there are so many that I like to choose from. But maybe a few will illustrate what I mean when I say amazing? The illustrations make me smile every time I come across one, and the artist is so very prolific that there are plenty to enjoy. In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser-known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom who maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

1. Fated, or, Two Weddings and a House Warming by Temaris.  This is a Gil/Ferdy fic of Georgette Heyer's novel Friday's Child.  This fic made my Christmas in 2012 so very wonderful.  It was written for me for yuletide, but I'm reccing it because it was the absolute best.  I hadn't expected to receive such a wonderful thing, but Temaris has a way with style that perfectly pays homage to Heyer.  It's a lovely read that will make you laugh and delight you to your very core if you are a Heyer fan, I promise.

2. Genesis by akahannah. An old Harry/Draco mpreg retelling of the events of HBP.  Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not a big fan of mpreg, because I can never really believe in it.    I was just telling a friend the other day that this is one of the ones that I love, despite the mpreg.  In fact, I don't think I've read another mpreg fic I liked half as well as I liked this one.  It's violent and angsty in just the right way.  I love Draco's voice in this fic.  I really like the entire scene in which he finds out he's pregnant, because it acknowledges that the entire thing is absolutely absurd.  It's a scene that, even in its seriousness, managed to make me laugh a little.  I also like that Draco doesn't accept that he's pregnant, and when he finds out about it, just goes on with what he was doing all along.  Even if you're someone who's never been able to like an mpreg fic, I would still urge you to read this one.

3. Yotsuba & Robots! by octopedingenue. A Yotsuba&/Avengers crossover ficlet.  It's a short little thing, but manages to be completely charming anyway.  The author's note that Yotsuba makes everything better is pretty much spot on.  XD
